Our Visit to the Taste of London food festival
Back in June, we headed down to London for the Taste of London food festival in Regent’s Park. We shared our stories on the show!
On a hot, sunny midsummer’s Saturday, we travelled down to London to the Taste of London festival. Not something we’d normally even consider but I’d won a competition run by Celebrity Cruises who had a pop up restaurant at the show for two tickets and a tasting session so we decided to go on a culinary adventure.
In the lovely Regent’s Park, Taste of London played host to quite a substantial number of exhibitors of every type of food you can think of – and some you probably can’t! We enjoyed wandering around the stands, taking in the sights, smells and many samples that were on offer. Also available were demonstrations, workshops and stands from a number of London-based restaurants where you could purchase small portions of their signature dishes to try. We didn’t partake in these but the stands looked very popular.
As part of the prize we were invited to one of the “tasting sessions” hosted by Celebrity Cruises at their Deck Fourteen pop up restaurant. This was set up to showcase their Lawn Club which features on the Solstice class ships and, in particular, the Lawn Club Grill restaurant. The session took the form of a food and wine pairing and we were given three different foods along with three different wines to compliment them. We were able to try the food and wine while the chefs and sommelier described their choices. A couple of the guests were even invited to take part in a ‘grill off’ which was judged by those at the session. It was a true representation of fine dining, a lovely way to spend half an hour on a sunny Saturday afternoon and it has got us quite excited for our upcoming cruise on Celebrity Eclipse.
While we probably didn’t get to even experience half of what there was to offer, we had a fabulous afternoon at Taste of London and have come back with loads of ideas to try.
